Mona Singh is a renowned actress in both the film and television industries, gaining fame for her portrayal of the quirky middle-class Punjabi character Jasmeet Walia, affectionately known as Jassi, in the 2003 series “Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.” The show achieved remarkable ratings and swiftly became a television sensation. Mona Singh received widespread acclaim for her exceptional acting skills and on-screen chemistry with her co-star Apurva Agnihotri. In a recent interview with Mirchi Plus, she disclosed the extensive preparations she undertook for the role and the tremendous excitement surrounding her character.

During the interview, Mona Singh revealed, “I was not allowed to do waxing, no threading, no eyebrows, and they would stick more hair on my face. I was not allowed to bleach my face. These were the too many restrictions that I was asked to follow to match up to Jassi.”

She further noted that the restrictions were so stringent that even her fellow cast members were unaware of her true appearance. Mona explained, “Contracts were very strict at that point of time. I couldn’t tell anyone how I looked in real life or who I am or what my name is? The first ever award that I bagged for the show was as Jasmeet Walia and I did not get it as Mona Singh. I used to wonder when people get to know me and look at me. But it was another high to be Jassi as the show was very popular.”

Mona Singh shared that the media had even issued challenges to reveal her actual identity, address, and appearance during that period. Consequently, the television channel took drastic measures, relocating her to a hotel. She recalled, “I had to stay at a hotel; my cars would change, and I would always get ready in my Jassi look in my hotel and would then go to my set.”
