Zaira Wasim is missing out on all the glory and adulation that her farewell film The Sky Is Pink is getting from critics and the audience. But the heartening part of this very tragic situation where one of the film’s lead players has opted out reportedly due to pressure from fundamentalists, is that the film has been seen by the missing actress. Reveals director Shonali Bose, “We took the film to Jammu for Zaira’s dubbing, and she saw the entire film then.”
Thereafter, Zaira decided she no longer wanted to be part of the entertainment industry or any part of the promotion of The Sky Is Pink. As the encomiums pour in for the film and Zaira’s performance the entire Sky Is Pink team wonders where Zaira is.
5 years ago I made a decision that changed my life and today I’m making another one that’ll change my life again and this time for the better Insha’Allah! 🙂 https://t.co/ejgKdViGmD

“They know she is in Kashmir. But beyond that there is no information on Zaira’s whereabouts. Zaira has requested for privacy, and the Sky Is Pink will respect her wishes,” says a source.
At age 16 Zaira made a big impact as Aamir Khan’s headstrong wrestler-daughter in Dangal. The following year she was cast again with Aamir Khan in the latter’s home production Secret Superstar, though not as his daughter this time. In 2019 Zaira announced her decision to quit the entertainment industry without even waiting for her third film The Sky Is Pink to release. The decision had created a huge controversy.
“This field indeed brought a lot of love, support and applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of ‘imaan’,” she said, referring to her faith.
“While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my ‘imaan’, my relationship with my religion was threatened,” she said in simultaneous posts on her social media profiles.
