Govinda, Bollywood’s beloved Hero No. 1, has had his fair share of on-screen charm and off-screen controversies. Known for his comedic timing and dance moves, Govinda is equally famous for his spontaneous personality. One particularly explosive incident took place during the shooting of Run Bhola Run when he allegedly slapped director Neeraj Vora in a fit of rage. What made this altercation even more dramatic was that it occurred amidst Govinda’s ongoing legal troubles from an unrelated slapgate controversy involving a fan.
At the time of the altercation with Vora, the Hero No1 actor was already embroiled in a high-profile court case stemming from another slap incident. This earlier controversy took place in 2008 when the actor slapped a fan on the set of his film Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. The incident, which was caught on camera, showed the veteran actor striking a fan who was allegedly misbehaving. However, the fan filed a case against the actor, leading to years of legal battles that put Govinda under immense public scrutiny.
Govinda’s slapgate
Govinda maintained that he acted in self-defense, stating that he felt the fan’s behavior was inappropriate. Nevertheless, the slap led to a prolonged court case, with the fan seeking damages for public humiliation and emotional distress. Despite the actor’s attempts to resolve the matter, the case continued to haunt him, casting a shadow over his career and adding to his stress.

Govinda slapped Neeraj Vora at a film set
Govinda and Neeraj Vora had collaborated on several projects, but their partnership had not been without its tensions. The incident reportedly stemmed from an unexpected turn during a scene in Run Bhola Run, where Govinda and actor Aryan Vaid, known at the time for his stint on Bigg Boss, were filming together. In the scene, where Aryan’s character was supposed to give a staged slap to the Coolie No. 1 actor, Aryan went overboard and actually slapped the seasoned actor, leaving everyone on set stunned.
What followed, however, left the crew even more shocked. Furious and taken aback by the unexpected slap, the veteran actor reportedly rushed over to the film’s director, Neeraj Vora, who was reviewing the shot at his monitor. In a surprising turn, Govinda slapped Vora, then stormed off the set, leaving the entire crew in disbelief. Adding fuel to the fire, Govinda allegedly claimed that Vora had intentionally added scenes to the film to mock him.
Although the incident became a hot topic on set, both the Hero No 1 actor and Neeraj Vora later denied it, brushing it off as exaggerated gossip. Whether the story was fact or simply Bollywood folklore remains a mystery, but it’s certainly one of the many intriguing tales surrounding the vibrant life behind the scenes of Hindi cinema.
