Amitabh Bachchan has once again lauded the performance of his son Abhishek Bachchan in his latest film “Ghoomer.” He expressed that he will no longer hold back his praises as a father. Directed by R Balki, “Ghoomer” features Abhishek Bachchan as a former cricketer turned coach, mentoring a passionate cricketer played by Saiyami Kher.
Following a viewing of the film directed by R Balki, Amitabh shared that he was deeply moved by the performances and the movie itself, even shedding tears. In a blog post just hours before “Ghoomer” hit theaters, today, on August 18, Amitabh wrote a heartfelt appreciation for the film.
Amitabh conveyed in his blog, “It is beyond all doubt that Ghoomer is a very superior film. I say this as a father yes, but also as a long-standing member of this fantastic fraternity. At this young age, Abhishek, and in the duration of the time (that) you have been in the Industry, you have played the most complex characters with immense conviction, diversity, and aplomb. Each one (has been) difficult and different, and each (one) successful. My pride has no bounds. It has been tough to be in reserve on compliments and facts. But no more. It has been spoken and shall be spoken ever. My love.”
Although Amitabh Bachchan makes a guest appearance in “Ghoomer,” playing a special commentator, he and Abhishek do not share the screen in the film. In a previous blog post about “Ghoomer,” Amitabh mentioned watching the film twice in one day and termed it “simply incredible.” He revealed that he was moved to tears, especially due to Abhishek’s acting. Amitabh also praised R Balki’s storytelling.
In Ghoomer, Abhishek portrays a man grappling with frustration and attributing his failures to the system and the world around him. After a series of events, he transforms his life’s purpose into coaching and guiding Saiyami to make it to the Indian cricket team.
The inspiring story of “Ghoomer” revolves around a paraplegic athlete (played by Saiyami), and is helmed by R Balki. The film also features notable roles for Angad Bedi and Shabana Azmi. “Ghoomer” is set to grace theaters today!
Amitabh Bachchan has consistently shown support for “Ghoomer” on his social media platforms. Upon the release of the trailer, he shared it on his Instagram with an expression of excitement. His granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda also shared the trailer on her Instagram Stories.
