As the cult classic prepares for a re-release this week, veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan shared in a recent interview that during the film’s first screening, Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan, gave the most memorable reaction.
During the interval, Salim stepped out and praised the film, a gesture that Roshan considers an early indication of the movie’s eventual success. The re-release promises to rekindle nostalgia for fans of this timeless classic.
Salim Khan’s Reaction to Karan Arjun
Recently in an interview with Pinkvilla, Rakesh Roshan shared an interesting anecdote from the early days of Karan Arjun. He revealed that before the film’s release, the person who expressed the most confidence in its success was Salim Khan.
Rakesh Roshan recalled how Yash Chopra’s office at Rajkamal Studio became a meeting point for his son Hrithik Roshan and Aditya Chopra, who were friends. While Roshan was working on the film’s post-production there, Aditya would often drop by to watch the reels. Aditya frequently expressed confidence in the film’s potential, praising its quality and predicting its success. However, Roshan initially dismissed these remarks as youthful enthusiasm, believing every film follows its own destiny.
Talking about Salim Khan’s reaction to the film, Rakesh said, “So when I had the first show, I called Salman’s family to see the film at Raj Kapoor Studio. So, Salim sahab bahar aaye interval mein and he came and told me ki ‘aap soch hi nai sakte hai ki aap ne kya banaya hai’. So that gave me confidence because Salim saying this ki ‘aap ne mere hosh uda diye’ that gave me confidence that this might work with the audience.”
