Zaira Wasim Quits Bollywood: TV Channel Makes Shocking Alleged Claims About Former Actress
In a show, Times Now channel made some shocking allegations about religious elements involved in Zaira Wasim’s controversial decision to quit Bollywood
Zaira Wasim’s exit from Bollywood has created a huge furore with a lot of opinions being shared on social media and beyond. While some stars like Raveena Tandon slammed her, others like Gauhar Khan stepped into support. Indeed, there has been much speculation over what prompted Zaira Wasim to quit Bollywood. Most importantly, the religious overtones of her farewell letter has alarmed many. But if the claims of a TV news channel is to be believed, Zaira was indeed pressurized by religious elements to beat a hasty retreat from Bollywood.
A video accessed by the Times Now channel shows a spokesperson of an Islamic outfit talking of how girls have been misled into a life of sin. Then it names Zaira Wasim and how she was made to wrestle with unknown men in her debut film Dangal. It also refers to a ‘Khan’ (Aamir) who called Zaira his role model , as a “moron”.
Sources say Zaira was intimidated by the venomous hate-filled content of the video and that it determined her decision to quit cinema. According to sources, Zaira’s decision to quit came after she was pressurized by religious groups into condemning cinema and acting as sinful. “I don’t think Zaira’s heart or mind is in this (quitting). It has all come from somewhere outside,” says an actor who has worked with Zaira. Zaira, in the past was also targeted by trolls after she gained fame and a National Award. Thereafter, she got a lot of bad publicity when she accused a man of harassing her in an aircraft with many people doubting her allegations.
Kashmir born Zaira made her high-profile debut at age 15 in Dangal as Aamir Khan's daughter. She was showered with praise. Ditto, when her second film Secret Superstar (again with Aamir Khan in the lead) was released. Even before her third film The Sky Is Pink, with Priyanka Chopra releases, Zaira announced her decision to quit films.
