Ye Dil Mera Episode 24: Amaan Reveals the Truth As Aina Discovers Amaan’s Intenions
Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir continue to enthrall viewers in this mysterious show with stellar performances from the cast while pulling viewers into a thrilling story
“Ye Dil Mera” has been taking viewers into flashback mode recently, focusing on the backstory that put Amaan and Aina in their current predicament. This week, viewers are pulled out of the past and into the present when Aina (Sajal Aly) finally begins sleuthing and finds the key for Amaan’s “secret room.” She’s shocked when she discovers a wall full of pictures of her plus several of Mir Farooq (Adnan Siddiqui) and Ali Baksh (Paras Masroor) with their faces crossed out. While the crosses over their faces (red paint? Blood?) came across as a little amateurish in terms of setting up the scene, the way this scene plays out is captivating to say the least. Amaan’s entry is surprising and even more surprising is how he reacts, revealing the truth to Aina about Farooq’s involvement in his family’s death. While Aina refuses to believe this and deems Amaan to be mentally ill, it’s interesting to see how Amaan reacts to Aina herself. In a moment, he tells her that she’s as innocent in this situation as he is, showing that he’s actually committed to his marriage and doesn’t hold Aina responsible for her father’s actions.
On the other end, Farooq and Ali Baksh discover that Saira (Rabia Butt) had spoken to Amaan on the phone before switching numbers and they connect the dots that Amaan is the blackmailer. However, once they head to Amaan’s home to pick up Aina, Farooq is shocked to see a confident Amaan standing there. He does not back down and casually makes it known that he knows about Farooq’s “habit” of killing off his wives. When Farooq nervously asks Aina to leave, she surprises everyone – including Amaan – when she says she will stay here and protect her home and asks Farooq to leave to avoid any arguments with Amaan. While Farooq does leave, shocked and nervous about the missile of information Amaan holds at his fingertips, Amaan thanks Aina for proving herself to be his wife today instead of Farooq’s daughter. But Aina makes it clear that she supports her father completely and is only staying with him to prove her father’s innocence, separating not only her room from Amaan, but also telling him that her identity is no longer connected to his. Amaan actually seems hurt by this revelation, indicating that despite it all, Amaan actually does love Aina in the flawed version of love that he’s capable of.
Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir own this episode with their performances. While Sajal Aly’s reactions are of shock and horror initially as Aina is scared of the man she has loved despite his eccentricities, Aina holds her own and proves how strong of a character she is with this episode. Sajal Aly is outstanding in the scene with Mir Farooq where she asks him to leave her marriage alone and leave her house. The pain of a daughter mixed with her fear of Amaan escalating things with Farooq is perfectly emoted by Sajal Aly as she gives a winning performance. This was Sajal Aly’s moment to shine in “Ye Dil Mera” and shine she does. Of course, Ahad Raza Mir cannot be left behind as he effortlessly changes between reactions, emotions and demeanor hundreds of times within this one episode. The scene in his “secret room” with Sajal is dark and Ahad’s depiction of this confused, tormented, angry soul is beyond words. It’s become difficult to praise Ahad at this point because he simply knocks it out of the park with each episode, his performance only getting better each time. Adnan Siddiqui does a great job as well, though his performance comes across as a little underwhelming in the first half of the episode – again, one wonders if this is an issue more with editing and the sequence of events rather than the performance itself. But he more than makes up for it in the second half with the scenes at Amaan’s home as he confronts him – and is bullied into silence with his worry over Aina and his weakness for his daughter. Farooq is terrified that Amaan will take away the only thing he’s every truly cared about by revealing the truth – his daughter. Both Adnan and Paras Masroor are great in this scene and this episode really is held together by these four performers.
The preview for episode 25 shows Amaan and Aina headed back to their childhood home where Aina is determined to prove Farooq’s innocence while, back in Islamabad, Farooq plots how to get rid of the impending problem of Amaan revealing his truth. “Ye Dil Mera” is a show that made use of each and every episode allotted to storytelling with each episode (as of late) contributing greatly to moving the story forward. As always, credit to Farhat Ishtiaq for writing such a strong story and the entire cast for performing so well that the issues with editing have become inconsequential. If It continues at the current pace, this show will end on a high note.
