In their personal space, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karan Johar remain close friends. Kareena once said that Karan is the brother she and her sister Karisma never had. But when it comes to working together, something or the other always keeps coming in the way. In fact Kareena and Karan have been trying to work together since Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, the film in which Kareena played the iconic Poo 17 years ago.
Thereafter the two were to come together for Kal Ho Na Ho. But Kareena asked for too much money. Hurt and wounded, Karan stopped talking to his mooh-boli bahen and signed Preity Zinta for the part. Karan has also mentioned this incident in his biography, An Unsuitable Boy. Apparently, the duo was not talking terms for a while after the episode.
However, they soon kissed and made up. Yet, they were unable to work together for one reason or another. Most recently Kareena was set to do the Karan Johar production of Shuddhi to be directed by Karan Malhotra . Hrithik Roshan and then Salman Khan were to play the lead opposite the Veere di Wedding star. Both the A-list heroes backed out one after another. Ultimately Shuddhi was shelved leading to Kareena’s classic worry: were Karan and Kareena destined to never work together after Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham?
This is all set to be changed. Kareena will finally play the lead again in a Karan Johar film . Sources close to Karan’s Dharma Productions say Kareena has been finalized to play the lead in Karan’s next directorial undertaking.
The male lead is likely to be Akshay Kumar. Finally then, the KJo-Poo partnership will move from gham to khushi.
