In a shocking expose, the team at India Today uncovered the main motive behind the vandalism of the Padmavati film sets. Through an investigation it was revealed that the Karni Sena (vandalisers) didn’t destroy the sets and posters to protect Rajput pride, but rather to extort money from the filmmakers.
Karni Sena activists have been protesting the portrayal of Rani Padmini in the period drama, ever since the buzz of the film first started. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was attacked earlier in January in Jaipur, following which the activists destroyed the film sets in Kolhapur.
The most recent attack was when they burnt the film posters on Saturday (23rd Sept), claiming that it went against the true history of Rani Padmini. However, in a recent investogatin, the India Today team uncovered the true reason behind the vandalism. It is said that the activists did it with the main aim of extorting money.
