Vikrant Massey shares working with Deepika Padukone on Chhapaak was incredible
Vikrant Massey will be seen sharing screen space with Deepika Padukone, in the latter’s first production venture, Chhapaak
It’s no doubt that Deepika Padukone is one the finest actresses to come out of Bollywood. She started her career in 2007 with Om Shanti Om, starring next to the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Ever since, there has been no stopping to the star. After having spent over a decade in the industry, Deepika is currently filming for her first production venture, Chhapaak, in which she also plays the lead role. It’s based on the life of an acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. Currently in its production phase, the film also stars famous actor from Mirzapur, Vikrant Massey.
In an interview with DNA India, the actor spoke about his experience on working with Deepika. He said, “Few get the opportunity to fulfill their wish list and they both were definitely on mine. I never knew that this would happen so early in my career. I’m just six years old in the industry. It was an incredible experience working with Deepika and Meghna Gulzar, the director, both.” He added that he was proud to be associated with the Chhapaak team.
This is not the first time Vikrant will be a part of a women-centric film. He has often been seen in films that focus on the women’s storyline, such as Lipstick Under My Burkha and the upcoming, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, along with Chhapaak. Speaking of choosing such films, Vikrant shared, “There’s little space for subjects related to women, not just in our movies but also society. It’s a patriarchal world with highly toxic masculinity that we live in. A lot of women are silenced. So, I feel fortunate about whatever little way I can contribute to reflect the society through my work. This is the least I can do as an artist and I will continue to do stories that need to be heard. That’s primarily the reason why I love associating with women directors and the length of the part has never been a dominating factor in my career so far. Even though I have supporting parts in the films I’ve done, I’m proud to be speaking for the larger cause.”
