Vicky Kaushal stepped foot in Bollywood with the 2015 film Masaan. However, he became relatively known amongst audiences after his powerful acting stint in Raazi opposite actor Alia Bhatt. But those who still weren’t able to put a name to his face after Meghna Gulzar’s 2018 project were finally able to post his performance in Rajkummar Hirani’s Sanju. From then on and in four years, Kaushal has been in his ascent of glory and is only on the path to becoming bigger and better. The actor’s performance in Masaan was however greatly appreciated by film critics worldwide and he has now revealed that the film indeed remains his favourite experience to date.
As the film clocked four years in Indian cinema, Kaushal mentioned how it taught him his most important lesson in life. "For days before we started filming Masaan, I'd sit here (Manikarnika Ghat, Benaras) for hours at a stretch, quietly watching bodies getting burnt... dark, fair, beautiful, ugly, rich, poor, fat, thin – all of them turning into the same colour of ash. Leaving behind, just their deeds, teaching me the most important lesson of my life," Vicky wrote on Instagram on Wednesday, posting a photograph of the ghat.
"My job was to put life into my character Deepak but what eventually happened was the other way around. Four years back, I got to ask you all a question... Now we are friends, right? Answers to which, I keep getting till date. Here's to four years of our beautiful friendship. I cherish it every day of my life. Thank You," wrote Vicky, who scored a massive hit with Uri earlier this year. Besides Vicky, Masaan featured Richa Chadha, Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, and Pankaj Tripathi in main roles. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film revolved around four lives and all these characters yearn to escape the moral construct of a small town.
