Ever since his acting debut in 2012 with Student of the Year, Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has shown that he’s an ace-performer. The 32-year-old has starred in various blockbuster hits with his acting stints and also proved to be an exceptional dancer. Son of filmmaker David Dhawan, Varun’s performances in Badlapur, October and Sui Dhaaga has also been lauded by many. Garnering a huge fan following in a matter of seven years, the actor sure has come a long way. Even superstar Salman Khan feels that Varun is one of the new generation actors who is guaranteed to achieve stardom.
Now Varun has always looked up to Salman. He even starred in Judwaa 2 which was a remake of the latter’s hit film from the 90s. However, unlike his protégé, Varun does not think ahead of the career moves he makes. In a recent interview, he revealed, “I don’t want to try and make a five-year plan. There are certain directors I want to work with and God-willing if they, hopefully, feel that I’m worthy enough, I can showcase some other things as an actor. I want to take each day as it comes. For me, the next challenge is to try and excel in everything that I do. My whole idea is that take each day as it comes and to try and win that battle.”
Varun is currently gearing up for the release of his next film, Street Dancer, which reunites him with ABCD2 co-star, Sharddha Kapoor and director, Remo D’Souza. Speaking about the film, he said, “We wanted to do ABCD 3 but then it was taking a lot of time. Street Dancer is, subconsciously, a brand that is only about dance. It is India’s biggest dance musical film. And it deals with a lot of teams. There are different teams in the film, I have my team, Shraddha has her team and there are international teams as well. And you’ll get to see who wins at the end.”
Street Dancer will feature other dance stars as well, namely Prabhudeva, Nora Fatehi amongst many others. It is also expected to introduce a number of fresh talents, which Varun thinks is essential. He explained, “In Street Dancer 3D there will be 20 new dancers. My idea is to introduce new talent to every film. If you are a star, you have to take the onus of introducing new talent. The street culture is massive in India today. Anywhere you go on the streets of India, there is some uniqueness.” Street Dancer 3D will hit screens next year on January 24.
