While we earlier believed that 2020 had kicked off to a fashionable start, we’re most certainly starting to feel otherwise after we analysed the red carpet looks of the Umang Show 2020. From the Golden Globes to the Critics Choice Awards, we’ve already seen some fabulous looks this year. At the Umang 2020 however, saying that we were disappointed was a mere understatement to say the least. From sequined suits, to sheer dresses and belted gowns, the red carpet had it all.
While we did see some elegant saris and graceful looks, there was more fashion faux pas going on, on the red carpet than fashion statements. And so we decided to round up and analyse some of the worst looks to have come out from the Umang Show 2020.
1. Rani Mukherjee
While Rani Mukerjee usually exudes grace in all her looks, this time around, we have no idea what she was thinking. She turned up on the red carpet wearing a gold sequined pant suit and we’re speechless (and not in a good way). She teamed the pant suit with a black collared shirt and a pair of gold pointed heel. More gold and less class we think! Rani Mukherjee made it worse by opting for a bold red lip and smokey eyes and little effort was made with her hair; which she left straight and unkempt. We can’t even give this look a score out of 10.
2. Bhumi Pednekar
Who thought monochrome could ever go this wrong? One of the easiest things to put together when you can’t decide what to wear is a monochrome outfit, but poor Bhumi Pednekar got it awfully wrong. She was clad in a pair of sparkly tights over which she wore a sequined top. She teamed the ensemble with a white fringed jacket which was belted at the waist. Bhumi Pednekar put in little effort with her hair and makeup look and had it tied in a rough ponytail. Minimal effort and not a good look. A sheer disappointment!
3. Shilpa Shetty
Shilpa Shetty’s attempt at creating a fusion look went horribly wrong at the Umang Show 2020. She turned up on the red carpet of the show and left us confused and we still can’t quite put our finger on what look she was trying to achieve. She arrived in a fuchsia pink gown which was belted and cinched at the waist. The peplum-style dress was teamed with an eastern style choker and three strings of black beads. She opted for a contrasting pink lip and shimmery eyes, together with voluminous hair. Overall, we’re not at all digging this look and think that she most certainly needs a makeover, and possibly, a new stylist.
After rounding up these three looks, it’s clear that these starlets did not get the red carpet memo and were most certainly not dressed for the event. The looks were not well thought out, lacked flavour and class and just went horribly wrong. Sorry ladies, better luck next time!
