UAE Evacuates 215 Arab Nationals From Wuhan, Establishes a World-Class Medical Centre

The evacuated UAE citizens will be moved to the newly established Emirates Humanitarian City in the UAE where they will go through medical testing and monitoring according to the standards set by WHO for their safety and wellbeing

The United Arab Emirates has decided to evacuate the individuals from Wuhan City in China of the neighbouring Arab countries on the account of the Coronavirus outbreak. These UAE citizens will be moved to the newly established Emirates Humanitarian City in the UAE where they will go through medical testing and monitoring according to the standards set by WHO for their safety and wellbeing. This facility has been established in accordance with the orders of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The facility will provide the necessary care and testing to the evacuees (the Arab nationals from the neighbouring countries) from Wuhan.

These individuals will also undergo a 14 day quarantine period. In a recent tweet on his official Twitter account, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces wrote, ‘I share in the UAE's commitment to the greater good for humankind as we evacuate foreign nationals in Hubei. They will receive the best medical care before they return home. We thank the Chinese government for its assistance,& acknowledge the great work of our citizen volunteers.’

In order to evacuate the Arab Nationals, a special aircraft equipped with HEPA cabin air filtrations systems, medical supplies and equipment necessary to carry out the evacuation procedure, along with trained cabin crew and medical teams was sent to Wuhan which brought back 215 persons. Several Arab ambassadors praised UAE’s humanitarian efforts in helping the citizens from the neighbouring Arab countries by first evacuating them and then providing them with the world-class medical facility at Emirates Humanitarian City. So far, there have been 27 registered cases of Coronavirus in UAE.
