Rupali Ganguly is one of the most adored actors from the Indian television industry. But, the Anupamaa star seems to be getting dragged from controversy to another these days.

Rupali Ganguly is easily one of the most popular and loved Indian television actresses. The star of the popular daily soap Anupamaa has won millions of hearts with her inherent charm, relatability and acting chops. Rupali has been a part of the television industry for a long time and is still remembered for her memorable and endearing role in the hit comedy show, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. Having begun her career as a child artist, she then went on to star in a number of extremely popular shows and films. Not only does she now command a massive fan following but has also been decorated with numerous awards throughout her career.

However, not everything seems to be perfectly well with Rupali Ganguly’s personal life. Her stepdaughter Esha Verma recently ignited a massive fire by making dramatic accusations about her stepmother. According to these allegations, Rupali had begun an affair with Ashwin K Verma, her husband while he was still married to her mother. In a 2020 post that recently resurfaced, Esha had also alleged that Rupali was “controlling” and “abusive” and had “mentally, emotionally, and physically” abused both her and her mother. The allegations went to the extent that it was claimed that the Anupamaa actress made death threats toward both Esha and her mother.

Rupali Ganguly files a defamation case

Ganguly has now filed a defamation case against Esha Verma, seeking Rs 50 crores in damages. She categorically denied all the allegations her stepdaughter had made, terming them as baseless and false. The charges were filed by popular lawyer Sana Raees Khan, who had taken part in the TV show, Bigg Boss 17. Per the suit, Esha’s public claims had tarnished Ganguly’s reputation and also explained that the decision to pursue legal action was influenced by what Esha said about her 11-year-old son, Rudransh.

The official statement issued by Sana Raees Khan’s legal team stated, “We have issued a defamation notice to her stepdaughter in response to her false and damaging statements as Rupali Ganguly firmly stands against the use of defamatory tactics for publicity and she has taken this legal step to protect her reputation from unfounded claims.

These baseless allegations were clearly intended to harm Rupali Ganguly’s reputation and capitalise on her public standing. Such actions have not only caused emotional distress but have also unfairly tarnished her personal and professional integrity.” One can only hope that this matter gets put to bed soon and fences can be mended, should that be a possibility and a choice of the people concerned.
