In a shocking piece of news renowned Tamil producer KP Chowdary aka Sunkara Krishna Prasad Chowdary allegedly passed away from suicide on Monday, February 3, 2025. The Kabali producer reportedly committed suicide in Goa. The exact reason behind the producer taking his own life remains unknown, several reports suggest he had been facing financial difficulties.
KP Chowdary dies by suicide
According to reports, Krishna Prasad Chowdary allegedly died by suicide on Monday in Goa. He reportedly rented a place in Goa on early Monday morning, where he eventually committed suicide by hanging himself.
Reports also suggest that he left behind a suicide note, in which he mentioned that he was taking his life out of his own wish. His body was sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim for post-mortem.
The Siolim police have also intimated KP’s relatives to collect his mortal remains.
KP Chowdary drug case
Back in 2023, Chowdary was arrested on June 13 by Cyberabad Police. They allegedly recovered 82.75 grams of cocaine from him. He would reportedly supply drugs to several prominent film personalities from both Tollywood and Kollywood.
The police had said, “During interrogation, the accused was confronted with photographs and contacts saved in his Google drive. The accused confessed and gave names of persons who used to take cocaine from him for their personal consumption and party with him.”
During the investigation, the police had also discovered that the producer owned a pub in Goa, where he had allegedly called individuals from Hyderabad. The cops suspected his involvemnet in supplying drugs. Police had later revealed that Chowdary had set up a club in Goa where he would consume drugs.
The police added, “He returned to Hyderabad in April 2023. While returning, he procured 100 sachets of cocaine from a Nigerian national in Goa, Petit Ebuzer, who was absconding in an NDPS case. He used 10 sachets and kept the rest to sell to his friends. Based on a tip-off, police from Madhapur apprehended him on Kismathpur Road under the limits of Rajendranagar Police Station while he was trying to sell cocaine. They seized 90 sachets of drugs, Rs 2,05,000 cash, four mobile phones, and a four-wheeler from his possession.”
A case was registered against the 44-year-old under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
