Here are three films of Dulquer Salmaan that you should watch if you are new to his fandom or have not seen a lot of his other work. Two of these films are Hindi, and one is a Tamil-language film.
O Kadhal Kanmani
O Kadhal Kanmani is also known as OK Kanmani. Directed, produced and written by critically acclaimed Mani Ratnam, the film shows Dulquer Salmaan as Aditya Varadarajan as a video game developer who falls in love with Taara Kalingarayar (played by Nithya Menen). They fall in love and begin living together. They are both against the idea of marriage because they think it ruins the chances of people pursuing their dreams. Dulquer's effortless charm is one of the highlights of this film as he balances the cute with the emotional.
Karwaan sees Dulquer as Avinash Rajpurohit, a disillusioned young man dissatisfied with his boss and his company and who has a troubled relationship with his father. Starring opposite the legend Irrfan Khan, Dulquer brings the tenderness to the role that is written as crabby and perpetually annoyed. Directed by Akarsh Khurana, Karwaan is one of Dulquer's few Hindi films. Mithila Palkar, Kriti Kharbanda and Amala Akkineni also star in the film along with Dulquer Salmaan.
The Zoya Factor
Dulquer plays Nikhil Khoda, the captain of the Indian cricket team in this film starring Sonam Kapoor, Angad Bedi, Sanjay Kapoor and Sikander Kher.
Sonam Kapoor plays Zoya Solanki, a junior ad agency executive who ends up being considered as a lucky charm for the Indian cricket team. Dulquer brings the right oomph and charm to a larger than life character while also keeping it realistic and relatable to a young adult audience.
Dulquer has also starred in various critically acclaimed and commercially successful films such as Bangalore Days, Nijaan, Kali and Comrade in America. In 2020 he starred in Varane Avashyamunde and Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal. His upcoming films include Vaan, Kurup and Hey Sinamika.
