Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew got married in 1986. Unlike the elder brother Prince Charles and his wife Princess Diana, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were always warm and into each other. They did not shy away from the public display of affection and loved being around each other. Even when the couple got divorced in 1996, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have continued to be on good terms and be loving parents to their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie. Their divorce, unlike Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s, was not a bitter one and Sarah Ferguson continues attending various royal events.
However, Sarah Ferguson was snubbed from attending the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. This happened following a controversy surrounding Sarah Ferguson in the year 2010 when she allegedly asked for money from a reporter to aid him in meeting Prince Andrew. This further lowered Sarah Ferguson’s position in the eyes of the royal family. Even her daughter Beatrice did not leave the house for days because she was embarrassed by her mother’s scandal. According to Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew had no idea what she was up to. She told that she got into this wrong practice because she wanted to clear her debts.
As a result of this awkward incident, she was not invited to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011. This was devastating for Sarah Ferguson (aka Fergie) because she was the last bride who had walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey. Also, she wanted to be around her daughters that day and have family time. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Fergie commended her ex-husband Prince Andrew who cajoled her and made her feel a part of that day. He reminded Fergie of how good they felt on their wedding. He said, ‘Our wedding was so perfect.’
