"The Way He Spoke About the Issue Made Me Feel Very Sad": Sridevi
The diva clears the air about rejecting the role of Sivagami in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
With Tubelight not getting the numbers as expected, S.S.Rajamouli’s Baahubali still continues to remain on the top, breaking all possible box office records. Long after the release of the film, fans still can't stop raving about the magnum opus and the outstanding performances.
Soon after the release, news emerged that Sridevi was approached by the director for the role of Sivagami Devi, which was later essayed to perfection by Ramya Krishnan. It was also revealed that she declined the offer as she was allegedly unhappy with the money.
In an interview, S.S Rajamouli went on to speak about Sridevi’s association with the film saying that they were indeed lucky that she rejected the role as they would not be able to match her huge demands. This statement hurt the actress, who in a recent interview with a Telegu channel revealed how upset she was about the comment. She said, “Rajamouli is a calm and dignified person. I was very happy to (have got a chance to) work with him. But, the way he spoke about the issue made me feel very sad.”
She further added, “There are rumours that I asked about Rs 10 crore for the role, including an entire floor in a hotel and 10 flight tickets etc. I have been in the industry for about 50 years and acted in more than 300 films. Do you think I could have accomplished all of this by making such demands?”
Having said the above, there still isn’t anything said from the actress about why she actually turned down the film. Now that the air is being cleared, we’ll only have to wait to find out the real reason.
