Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor's talent manager, Anirban Blah was rescued by the police in the nick of time before he was about to commit suicide.
Blah is the founder and managing director of Kwan Entertainment. Blah started Kwan in 2009, and today the company, which operates in several verticals in entertainment and sports, reportedly does business worth more than Rs 3,000 crore annually. Kwan’s clients include actors Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Shraddha Kapoor, and among others, cricketer Shikhar Dhawan.
The company which he helped to create suspended him pending investigations after numerous women alleged that he was guilty of casting couch in the industry.
According to India Today, following the accusations and Blah’s stepping down, a swarm of rumours engulfed the company. Anonymous emails and messages claimed that Blah’s stepping down was an eyewash and that several of its employees were informed at a town hall that Blah was still part of the agency and warned to stay quiet about it.
In an interview to entertainment website Spotboye, Blah’s brother Indranil clarified that Blah had indeed stepped down and that his shares in the company were being bought by the other partners. “On Wednesday, he was asked to step aside. On Thursday, we asked him to send in his resignation,” said Indranil, who is on the board of directors of Kwan.
As per police information, the police managed to nab Anirban in the nick of time before he could jump off from the Vashi Old Bridge -- a bridge that is at least 25 kilometres away from where he lives and the one that connects Mumbai with the satellite township of New Mumbai.
But how did the police know where he would try to commit suicide? Police sources confirm that they were actually waiting to catch Anirban Blah. There were no attempts of suicide. As soon as Anirban walked out of the car and walked towards the bridge railings, he was apprehended mid-way and taken to the police station. His wife was informed by the police officers and he was referred to counselling after a preliminary check-up.
According to the police, a journalist from Times of India newspaper tipped them off after receiving a public suicide note from Blah which he sent them before taking an Uber cab to Vashi.
"We got a call from the journalist that he is coming to Vashi to commit suicide. So, we waited for him with a team in place. The journalist has also shared the suicide note of Blah with us where he has admitted to his guilt," said the police source.
This is what Blah has written in the suicide note. This suicide note was sent just an hour before he went to the exact spot to commit suicide.
Without trying to justify any of my actions, I just want to say that I have tried to be the best person I can be. I didn't have the strength to cope with what happened to me as a child in a healthy way. I never was able to separate sex from power, to make it a part of love, and somewhere along the way, one part of me turned into a monster. Maybe ... I am bipolar. Because I know how much love I have to give. To my friends and my family to everyone. I have tried to be the best friend I can and the best colleague and the best person I can. But unfortunately the monster inside me keeps resurfacing and I've tried to bury him and kill him but I can't. I wasn't good enough. And I am the only one to blame ... I know no one believes me, but that monster was a part of me, and there were goodness and kindness in me. To anyone I may have hurt, I am sorry. This isn't revenge for you. This is justice.
You should just know that the stories you hear are worse than the truth but whatever the truth, it still makes me a monster in my own eyes. Know though that this monster has this part of him that is pure still, and that my love for you is so great that I cannot forgive myself the hurt I have caused you. There are no justifications. You deserved better.
You will find my body somewhere near Vashi creek. My licence will be with me as identification plus my tattoo. I am wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt. The monster inside me has won against the other part of me for too long, it's time to kill it once and for all."
Meanwhile, Times of India said that they are in possession of yet another confession of a woman who has accused Blah of incessant harassment. The publication of the report has been deferred by ToI because of the suicide attempt by Blah.
The police confirmed Blah has been hospitalised right now and not in a position to speak with anybody.
