When Ajay Devgn’s recently released project Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was first announced, fans and critics had high hopes from the film, courtesy its powerful storyline and star-studded cast of actors Saif Ali Khan and Ajay’s wife Kajol. The only glitch that was speculated to hinder any kind of success for Tanhaji was its clashing release with Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, starring Deepika Padukone in the lead. However, when both films hit cinema screens simultaneously, Tanhaji opened to a greater footfall and raving reviews. The 100th film of Ajay’s career came with a huge amount of success for him and has been dominating ticket windows. Now in its second week of running in theatres, Tanhaji seems to be all set to enter the INR200 crore club soon, leaving Chhapaak behind by a big margin.

Ajay Devgn in Tanhaji
Tanhaji will soon become Ajay’s highest grossing film when it beats his 2017 film Golmaal Again, which minted a cumulative of INR205 crore. Tanhaji is also Ajay’s fifth consecutive film to cross the INR100-crore mark. The historical drama unravels the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Subedar Tanaji Malusare, who gave up his life reclaiming the Sinhagad Fort from Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s forces and fighting for what he stood for. The Om Raut directorial stars Ajay in the lead alongside Saif, Kajol and Sharad Kelkar. While Kajol reprises her real-life role as she plays Ajay’s wife on-screen, Saif essays the antagonist, Udaybhan.
