Tamashee, a high-end footwear brand will launch its pre Spring-Summer 2014 collection on 15 January, 2014 at Level Shoe District, the world’s finest shoe metropolis.
For three days, starting on 15 January, three artists, Anood Obaidly, Afra Al Dhaheri, and Asma Belhamar, will be painting on several Tamashee sandals. A silent auction will be held to sell these sandals, with proceeds going to the UAE Down Syndrome Association, Tamashee’s social partner.
The collection has been inspired by the authentic Arabian Gulf sandal and incorporates the theme of art through its design and use of colours. Tamashee will launch a total of 14 sandal designs for both women and men. The exclusive styles created especially for Level Shoe District will be unveiled at the event.
The Tamashee pop-up store, which is designed based on the concept of an art studio, will be located at Level Shoe District between 15 January and 29 January. After 29 January, the Tamashee sandals will be on display at the relevant locations at Level Shoe District.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mohammed Kazim, one of Tamashee’s co-founders, commented: "For this collection, we have used strong and bold colours on a sleek and minimalist design. Tamashee brings colour to the authentic Arabian Gulf sandal and to the region’s traditional fashion." He added, “At Tamashee, we see art as a language that everyone speaks, which cuts racial, social, educational and economic barriers while enhancing cultural appreciation and awareness”.
Osama Al Safii, General Secretary of the UAE Down Syndrome Association, said: “We, at the UAE Down Syndrome Association, value these efforts by the private sector and all segments of society to raise awareness of individuals with Down Syndrome. We aspire that these individuals become active players in the community, thus reflecting the civilized approach that our association adopts. We invite everyone to be part of these wonderful initiatives which serve humanity and benefit the whole community.”
Tamashee is represented by three noble social causes:
Preserving Identity: Tamashee sandals have been inspired by cultural designs. We seek to keep these designs alive by integrating them stylishly with modern fashion.
Representing Culture: By wearing a Tamashee sandal, you are presenting the Arabian Gulf’s colours and intricate designs to the world.
Colouring Lives: A portion of the proceeds from every purchase of a Tamashee sandal directly funds projects that aim to increase awareness of individuals with Down Syndrome and to integrate them into the broader society. This goal is made possible through a fruitful collaboration with the UAE Down Syndrome Association.
