Taapsee Pannu Will Not Do Films in which Women are Made Fun Of, Here’s Why

Taapsee Pannu was last seen in Saand Ki Aankh with Bhumi Pednekar which has been receiving mixed reviews ever since its release

Over the past few years, Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has made a huge name for herself. Starring in films opposite some of the biggest names of the industry, such as Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Varun Dhawan and Rishi Kapoor amongst many others, Taapsee has made herself known. Her performances in Manmarziyaan, Badla, Pink, Game Over and Mission Mangal have been earning her a lot of praises. Her performance in her latest release Saand Ki Aankh with co-star Bhumi Pednekar is also being lauded by many. Despite working in a number of films with different subjects, Taapsee is still not open to doing sex comedies or even item numbers for that matter.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Taapsee said, “I’m open to doing all these glamourous songs but only for my films where I’m the heroine. I will not do just a random so-called item song. There has to be a very strong reason for me to do that song, apart from that it’ll make me look glamourous.” She added, “Whatever sex comedies I’ve seen so far, I didn’t find them funny. I’ll never do one because it shows women in a particular light. Making woman the butt of all jokes, having sexual innuendos, double meanings just to titillate the audience is not entertaining.”

However, in Judwaa 2, Taapsee was seen in a bikini. Addressing the same, she explained, “Judwaa 2 was very challenging because to get size zero body and look good in a bikini standing next to Varun and Jacqueline Fernandez was tough. People would think that just because you have to wear a bikini and look good on screen, it’s easy, but it wasn’t. I’ll soon be doing something like that, which is very interesting.” Taapsee will be next seen in Thappad, Rashmi Rocket and Tadka. Apart from that, she has several other films in the pipeline.
