In recent times, films that revolve around the struggles women have to go through, have been very high in number. And not only their struggles, but also how they should choose to live life on their terms without feeling bad about it. Films such as Hichhki, Queen, English Vinglish and even Veere Di Wedding brought women and their stories to the forefront, instead of just serving as mere eye-candy next to the hero. Likewise, when news of Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar coming together to play two old women broke, fans were eagerly waiting to find out what more they could bring to the table.

The upcoming Bollywood film, Saand Ki Aankhi will have Taapsee and Bhumi, touted to play India’s oldest female sharpshooters, Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar, respectively. The two are decked into prosthetics to play their roles in the film, the trailer of which was just released today. The trailer shows how the women were made to feel inferior in their village, but somehow, have a unique talent of always hitting bullets at the bull’s eye. And now, they want to teach this to the young girls of their village so they don’t have to depend on men.

Now being ace performers, one would expect Taapsee and Bhumi to have the best dialogue delivery of all. However, that is where the two lack in the trailer. Both the actresses are unable to properly pick up the accent making their well-written and powerful dialogues, lack impact. Moreover, no matter how much makeup or prosthetics that have been used to make Taapsee and Bhumi look over the age of 60, they do not. Apart from the two stars, the cast of Saand Ki Aankh also includes Vineet Kumar Singh, Prakash Jha and Pawan Chopra in titular roles. The film is being directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Anurag Kashyap, which is all set to hit screens on October 25.
