Earlier, the film was titled Womaniya, however, due to some dispute; Anurag went with Saand Ki Aankh. Directed by newcomer Tushar Hiranandani, the crime drama is based on the UP-based octogenarian sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar. Although rumors of the film getting shelved were increasingly pronounced, Anurag dismissed all the reports and ensured that the project is still underway. Talking about the characters in the film, Bhumi Pednekar said that they are inspired from real life characters.

"These two women by sheer stroke of luck become sharpshooters. They travel the world, they are given incredible recognitions, they make our country proud but no one really knows how they fought their house, the society to make a difference in the lives of their grand-daughters and bring positive change for women in their male-dominated community. It is an extremely powerful story," Bhumi said.
