Bollywood star Sushmita Sen recently celebrated 25 years of having won the Miss Universe pageant. The model spent the special day with her daughters, Renee and Alisah along with boyfriend Rohman Shawl and some close friends. In photos posted all over social media, the actress was seen cutting a two-tier cake that was topped off with an edible crown. She wore a similar crown on her own head too while smiling ear to ear.

And, of course, the beyond gracious Miss Colombia @carogomezfilm who won first runners up that year, and yet celebrated India’s first victory as if it were her own!!! Thank you God, family, friends, my children & all of you, who have consistently inspired me to keep growing & be more of my authentic self!!! Sharing some photos from the celebration, Sushmita wrote a long caption under the pictures. She said, "What a journey! Thank you my motherland India for giving me my proudest identity. The love, respect and adulation I have been showered with for  the last 25 years is undoubtedly my life’s greatest earning. As we celebrate 25 years of making history, of India winning Miss Universe for the very first time, I want to remember and thank the people of my second home, Philippines."

The star continued, "This country and its people continue to overwhelm me with their love and belonging to this day, even naming their children after me at times. I would like to thank my resident manager Miss Jane, for being such a force of change and for teaching an 18-year-old me the power of professionalism, value for one’s word, earning reputation, commanding respect and to always have a inclusive Global view."

Sushmita added that it was others; teachings that helped her make many important decisions in the past 25 years, thereby shaping the woman she is today. "I remember with great love, all 77 contestants who competed for Miss Universe 1994," stated the starlet.

"And, of course, the beyond gracious Miss Colombia, Caro Gomez, who won first runners up that year and yet celebrated India’s first victory as if it were her own."

The model turned actress didn't forget to thank her friends, family, children, and most importantly, her fans who inspired her to always keep growing and be the most authentic version of herself.

"Your wishes came pouring in and had me overwhelmed, thank you so much. May the Universe always conspire in your favour," Sushmita concluded. The Biwi No 1 star also revealed that she had just landed from Dubai and was on her way to Goa when the adorable surprise was thrown her way. The actress was last seen in a 2010 film, No Problem. She has also worked in numerous other movies such as Fiza, Main Hoon Na, Maine Pyaar Kiyun Kiya and many others.
