Surveen Chawla Opens Up About Her Shocking Encounter With Casting Couch
Surveen Chawla has said that she has faced horrible experiences of casting couch not one but multiple times at the hands of acclaimed filmmakers
Recently, Actress Surveen Chawla stunned everyone with her stint in Netflix's popular series Sacred Games as Jojo Mascarenhas the pimp and friend to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Ganesh Gaitonde. Actor Surveen Chawla, is one of the most popular faces in Indian television, kickstarted her journey with Starplus drama Kahiin To Hoga which she recalls as being a cakewalk and later went on to do small projects. Then, she decided to transition into films and all the roadblocks started coming her way.
Despite being famous already, she had to face severe criticism from being called an 'overexposed' TV actress to an 'overweight girl at 56 kilos'. Opening about one such experience in an interview to Pinkvilla, Surveen said, “Then came south and that was my biggest blow. I faced casting couch thrice. There was a time I was told to accompany a film director for a recce and I was told ‘I want to know every inch of your body’. I just started ignoring calls from then on.”
Talking about her casting couch horrible experience in Bollywood she faced a similar situation with rather big wig filmmakers “It happened quite recently, last to last year. I had to barge out of an office because of someone trying to insinuate an act and I will never do that,” she went on to add, “One filmmaker to see how my cleavage looks and one filmmaker wants to see how my thighs looked. This kind of stuff happens.”
She is known to work in movies like Hate Story 2, Ugly, Parched and 24, etc. along with several other films. She has even been nominated several times and even won many awards. In May, the actor gave birth to a baby girl Eva and shared a photograph of the newborn on social media.
