The final episode of Suno Chanda had both a lot to wrap up and, at the same time, very little to wrap up. With Mithoo and Maina’s wedding fixed, the only real problem left was the one related to Arsal and Ajiya – and while there was only one story left to wrap up, it was quite a heavy one, seemingly one too complex to rectify in just one episode. Leave it to Saima Akram Chaudhary to write the story in such a way that not only are essentially all loose ends are neatly wrapped up, but the audience is left feeling both happy and nostalgic.
The final episode had several beautiful scenes, the first being the scene between Ajiya and Shahana. Ajiya confesses to Shahana that she was never taught how to communicate, while Shahana admits they faltered them in that arena, but encourages Ajiya to have a heart-to-heart with Arsal to clear things once and for all. The saas-bahu duo share a sweet moment that makes one go soft immediately.
Arsal and Ajiya share several intimate moments in this episode, the first being Ajiya’s confession scene where she informs Arsal that she does not want to go to London, because she does not want to leave him. However, she also informs him of the problems in their relationship and that their relationship needs work. Arsal, as usual, turns the serious, sweet moment into a humorous one when Ajiya steps on his foot by accident. The episode delivers the scenes and reunion ArJiya fans have wanted all season, showing character growth for both Arsal and Jiya and leaving the viewer with a smile on their face.
With Mithoo and Maina’s wedding in full swing, we witness the return of Sherry and Kinza, a duo that was sorely missed. Nagina, Billo and Joji also return for the wedding and their charisma and comedy lights up the screen! In an unexpectedly refreshing scene, Jalaal gives a heartfelt apology to Masooma, referring to her as a “Jannati aurat” (A woman destined for heaven) and declares that he will take her back to Peshawar and remain as devoted to her as Sherry is to Kinza. With all we’ve seen Masooma endure with Jalaal (even if presented in a comedic way), this apology was much needed and made for a beautiful moment.
True to a Suno Chanda finale move, a new romance is seen budding between Yasir and Huma – a pair that makes absolute sense and viewers could get behind. Of course, we see DJ playing “kabaab mein haddi,” which only makes the pair more adorable.
The season 2 finale came to an end with a family picture, all members of the cast present and DJ declaring that we will see them in different roles and capacities after this – sealing the deal that Suno Chanda Season 3 is not in the pipeline. The season 2 finale is, in fact, the Suno Chanda series finale, making the happy moments seem bittersweet. Such a beautiful ensemble cast with great chemistry, the characters of Suno Chanda found a place in the hearts of viewers. Arsal and Arjiya will go down in the books of Pakistani television as one of the most beloved couples, but the entire Suno Chanda family will be remembered in their individual capacity. Whether it be Shahana (the real spark of the show), Nazakat, Jamshed, Naima…..the entire family made their mark in well-written, humorous characters. A show like this will not be seen any time soon, that we can be sure of. For that, thank you to Hum TV for sharing such a show with viewers. Thanks to Saima Akram for writing such a beautiful show. And thanks to the Suno Chanda cast for performing so well that viewers are still demanding a season 3. This show will be missed.
