Priyanka Chopra made her exit from Salman Khan's passion project Bharat amidst a lot of brouhaha. However, Salman hasn't wasted too much time looking for a replacement. In walks his favourite actress Katrina Kaif, who it was always suggested, had been the first choice for the ambitious film.
In a quirky tweet, Salman said 'Ek Sundar aur Suheel Ladki jiska naam Hai Katrina Kaif... swagat hai aapka Bharat ki Zindagi mein. (A beautiful and dutiful girl whose name is Katrina Kaif... welcome to Bharat's life).
Sundar and susheel is often a term used to describe a shy, nice girl in Hindi. In most films, a 'good girl', especially a bride is described as 'sundar and susheel'. Salman's choice of adjectives is interesting. Was he hinting at Katrina's off-screen persona or on-screen character? That's something only he can answer but now team Bharat is in safe hands.
It was always said that Katrina Kaif was the first choice for Bharat. Not just because she shares great chemistry with Salman Khan but also because she is very friendly with the director Ali Abbas Zafar who she has worked with in Mere Brother ki Dulhan and Tiger Zinda Hai. Zafar, in an interview with Hindustan Times hinted that he offered the role to Katrina because she fit the bill and not because Salman asked him to. He claimed while everything was discussed with Salman, the choice was entirely his.
He also added that since Priyanka had informed them well in advance, there was no ill will and they did not incur any losses.
