You may or may not have noticed, but it is most certainly the season of remakes. Directors and producers are revisiting old classics to take them up in new upcoming films. Tanishk Bagchi for example, has become synonymous with such reprise versions. T-Series which has a gallery of a million songs already, have their eye on Nikkhil Advani's next production venture Marjaavaan; starring Sidharth Malhotra, Tara Sutaria, Rakul Preet and Riteish Deshmukh in pivotal roles.
The actioner will be helmed by Milap Zaveri and previously in Satyameva Jayate, they had used the modern day version of Dilbar which created a riot and a major buzz on the digital platform. In fact, it paved way for Nora Fatehi to become the next big thing. And now, the production house has decided to revamp one more song that has been loved since its release.
According to a source, "The makers have plans to use Masakali for Marjaavaan. The original featured Sonam K Ahuja and Abhishek Bachchan and T-Series holds rights to the song. When the producers were scouting for a similar track and melody, they got the idea of using the Delhi 6 number. It's yet again a soft, romantic number that will feature Sid and one of the girls. It's yet to be shot." Milap was unavailable for comment on the matter.
Recently, the makers of the film also shot for a dance track in which Nushrat Bharucha is going to be dancing along with Sidharth Malhotra. The film is being readied for a Gandhi Jayanti release and will mostly clash with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's next with Yash Raj Films.
With regard to other remakes, the old school classic, Tip Tip Barsa Pani, which is synonymous for Raveena Tandon’s yellow sari and Akshay Kumar’s charm is all set for a remake in Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi. While Akshay Kumar will still be the original actor in the song, Katrina Kaif is all set to take over Raveena’s role and has Ravena’s stellar performance to live up to.
What do you think could be next on the list of remakes?
