Sobhita Dhulipala wasn’t aware of her character’s name change in Bard of Blood
Sobhita Dhulipala’s character’s name from Bard of Blood was different from that in the book, but she was not aware of it
Bollywood has been introducing many fresh faces in recent times, some which are doing an exceptional job on screen. One such star is Sobhita Dhulipala who made her debut with Raman Raghav 2.0 back in 2016. Since then, she has starred in many films such as Chef, Kaalakaandi and Amazon Prime Video’s hit show Made in Heaven. In a short span of time, the actress has proven her mettle and shown that she is one of the best performers in the industry. And now, she’s gearing up for the release of her next digital venture, Bard of Blood opposite Emraan Hashmi but there is some confusion about the name of her character.
In Bard of Blood, Sobhita essays the role of Isha Khanna which differs from that which appears in the book that the show was adapted from. Written by Bilal Siddiqui, the Bard of Blood book has an Isha Khan instead of Isha Khanna and Sobhita was surprised when she found out. In an interview with India Today, she said, “I wasn't allowed to read the book. I was given the script. I didn't know about it but now that you've told me, I will ask.” She, however, proceeded to defend the makers of the show.
“The book is populated with all the characters which are very exciting. They took that story and adapted it into a screenplay format. They have heightened certain emotions and cut down on certain elements that they did not want. I think what we have as the final draft in the screenplay and what's finally shot is something that we are all quite proud of,” Sobhita explained. Bard of Blood, which premiers on Netflix on September 27, will mark superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s first venture on a digital platform. Apart from Emraan and Sobhita, the series also stars Kirti Kulhari and Vineet Kumar Singh in titular roles.
