Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra Starrer Jabariya Jodi: Film’s Release Postponed Again
Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra’s upcoming film, Jabariya Jodi, will now have a solo release on 9th August 2019.
Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra -- who appeared together in the 2014 comedy-drama film Hasee To Phasee -- have reunited for director Prashant Singh’s comedy film, Jabariya Jodi, which is based on the practice of groom kidnapping and forced marriages (jabariya vivaah) prevalent in north India. The film was slated for release on 12th July but the release date was changed to 2nd August. Now, as per the latest reports, it seems that the film’s release has been pushed to the second week of August and it will hit the screens on 9th August. The release date has been changed at the request of exhibitors to avoid clash with the previous week’s major releases, Judgementall Hai Kya and Arjun Patiala, and upcoming films, such as Sonakshi Sinha starrer Khandaani Shafakhana, releasing on 2nd August.
With the new release date, Jabariya Jodi will be a solo release on the 9th August weekend and the makers will also be taking advantage of the Eid Al-Adha holidays, which are expected to start on 12th August, followed by Indian Independence Day holiday on 15th August.
Meanwhile, Sidharth and Parineeti have been actively promoting their film since the last couple of weeks, travelling from Gujarat to Chandigarh to New Delhi, to spread the word. Sidharth will be seen playing the role of a thug who helps kidnap grooms so that the brides’ families can avoid paying dowries. As the movie is based on real-life instances, director Prashant Singh has been receiving threat calls from those involved in the business of groom kidnapping, who are trying to stop the release of the film. However, the makers are still planning to release the movie all over the country, even in areas where this practice is prevalent. Jabariya Jodi has been produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor and Shailesh R. Singh.
