Shraddha Kapoor had been signed on to play badminton champ Saina Nehwal a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, there was not much movement on that front and some reports even suggested that the makers were not very happy with Shraddha’s performance. News then came in that Shraddha Kapoor had been replaced by Parineeti Chopra.
The good news on that front is that now the biopic is proceeding smoothly. Parineeti recently released a picture confirming that she has started the prep for the film and she has started taking badminton lessons.
"I am a visual learner," Parineeti said of her preparation, in a statement. "The most important advice that I got from my entire training team, Amole Gupte sir (the director) and everybody was that I must watch Saina's matches. I haven't watched that many badminton matches and I really want to play exactly the way she plays," she said.
Parineeti said that she will now be seen in some of her matches too. "So, watching her matches, how she drops her foot, how she uses her hand, how she uses her racket, her aggression on the court….these are things I really want to imbibe as part of my personality. So I have to watch all her matches and videos," she added.
Incidentally, when Shraddha was doing the film, there were similar reports of how she watched Saina’s matches to prep for the role. Who you think looks better? Parineeti or Shraddha Kapoor as Saina Nehwal?
