It last happened in 2006 and now it has happened again in 2018. For the first time in 12 years, there are no top performing movies from the house of the Khans – Salman, Aamir and Shah Rukh.
The year 2018 was no less than a nightmare for Bollywood’s top three Khans. While Salman Khan’s Race 3 turned out to be the most trolled movie of the year ending up with a lifetime collection of Rs 166.40 crore, Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan could not earn more than Rs 151.19 crore and had to be declared a box-office disaster. Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, which is still running in the cinemas, was the worst of the three. Having collected Rs 88.85 crore so far, the film is struggling to reach even the Rs 100 crore-mark.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju (Rs 342.53 crore) is the top grosser of 2018. Sanju is closely followed by Padmaavat (Rs 302.15 crore) and Simmba (173.15 crores so far) -- both the movies have Ranveer Singh in the lead.
Though Thugs of Hindostan and Race3 could cross 100CR mark, they were not declared hits due to the enormous production costs. The other Khan film, Zero, couldn't even reach the 100CR mark.
As mentioned above, the last time it happened was in 2006 when the Hrithik Roshan-starrer Dhoom 2 (Rs 81 crore), the Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi-starrer Lage Raho Munna Bhai (Rs 75 crore) and the Hrithik Roshan-starrer Krrish (Rs 72 crore) had grabbed the first three positions, in that order, leaving no room for the Khans, reports Times Now.
From 2007 to 2017, at least one Khan has been among the top three positions of the box-office ladder say reports.
