Sharjah Wheelers Festival (SWF), the first-of-its-kind motor show, was held in the emirate on Friday at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, a prominent cultural and leisure destination. Organised under the patronage and presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council (SMC), the event brought together a large number of car and bike enthusiasts who discovered the latest developments in the motoring world. Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), was also present at the festival where more than 800 cars and bikes were showcased. These were divided under five categories, including custom cars, 4x4s, classic cars, luxury saloons and motorcycles.
Experts presented remote-controlled car shows and visitors availed discounts of up to 50 percent on remote-controlled cars and drones.
Competitions were also held in more than 25 categories, such as Best Motorbike, Best Exterior, Best Engine, Best Sport Custom Motorbike, Best Car Interior, among others. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi distributed prizes among the winners and also toured the festival, looking at the collection of vehicles. He paid a visit to partner entities such as the Sharjah Police, which displayed vehicles used for special tasks.
The Emirates Driving Institute also organised simulations of accidents which can lead to fatal injuries if seat belts are not worn by drivers and passengers.
Speaking about the event, Director SGMB Tariq Saeed Allay said, "We organised the festival to provide car and bike enthusiasts with the opportunity to explore a unique collection of modern, classic, sports and custom cars, as well as the latest customisation methods and material that sparked the creativity of their owners. The festival offers owners and visitors a platform to share ideas and information about the latest developments in the motoring world."
