“PR-giri without Shahid’s permission,” is how a friend of Shahid Kapoor describes the announcement that he has hiked his price after Kabir Singh. Reports had suggested that after the stupendous success of Kabir Singh, Shahid had raised his price to an unheard of sum of over INR 30 crore.
If he really did something so drastic, we would seriously have to wonder about his thought process. For, if the blockbuster status of Shahid Kapoor’s latest film entitled him to a steep remuneration hike then the thundering failure of his last film Batti Gul Meter Chalu should have goaded a payment-slash from Shahid.
So the fact of the matter is - No. Shahid Kapoor has not hiked his price. Not yet. “He’s too normal, sober and sensible to get carried away. So no, Shahid has not hiked his price. He knows it is celebration time now. But who has seen tomorrow?” asks the friend.
Kabir Singh has been Shahid’s biggest solo hit so far, the opening numbers itself were bigger than his earlier blockbuster Padmaavat. The movie has been mired in controversies, especially after director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s interview that created a huge buzz, but there is no stopping the film at the box office.
