Shahid Kapoor has another project in the pipeline following the release of his super hit Sandeep Reddy Vanga-helmed film Kabir Singh. While the project fell prey to several controversies, it did not stop the blockbuster from becoming the biggest solo opening of the Padmaavat star’s career. Now, Shahid is back with yet another venture – a Telegu remake – in which he will be essay the role of a cricketer. And of course, his inspiration has been noone else but legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. It seems like Shahid is also taking up bits of advice from the sportsman as revealed on a recent Twitter post.

Kohli had earlier disclosed his thoughts on good cover drives and their therapeutic qualities. The actor retweeted the cricket star’s latest tweet, soon after announcing that he would play a cricketer himself in his upcoming film, a re-creation of the Telugu film, Jersey. Virat tweeted a picture of himself acing a cover drive on the pitch and wrote, “A good cover drive is therapeutic.” Shahid retweeted it and wrote, “Am feeling it.”
Jersey revolves around a father named Arjun (Nani), a talented but failed cricketer, who decides to return to cricket in his late 30s because of his desire to represent the Indian cricket team and fulfill his son’s wish of an Indian jersey as a gift. It explores his journey of how he makes it big despite being limited by his age. The Telugu version received a stellar response from viewers and gained critical as well as commercial success. Shahid’s last film Kabir Singh emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2019. That too, was a remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. Shahid starred opposite Kiara Advani in the film, where they played each other’s love interests. However, his character received ample flak for its alleged portrayal of toxic masculinity.
