Shah Rukh Khan’s Son Aryan Has Ruled Out Acting for Two Understandable Reasons
Shah Rukh Khan revealed on David Letterman’s show that Aryan does not have it within him to become an actor. Secondly, he doesn’t want to be constantly compared to his superstar father
Streaming giant Netflix recently dropped the latest episode My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman as fans world over waited for their favourite Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan to grace the guest seat. The actor weighed in on a lot of subjects ranging from his personal to professional life and more. While speaking to the reality TV mogul, SRK clarified that his eldest son Aryan – 21 years of age – will most probably not be following in his father’s footsteps of an actor. Shah Rukh added that wanting to be an actor has to come from within and Aryan too realises that he does not have what it takes to be one.
“In India it’s like, ‘Okay, if you’re a movie star’s son, then you might become a movie star’. He looks nice and he’s tall but I don’t think he has what it takes and he realises it himself. But he is a good writer. I think wanting to be an actor has to come from within. But I think I realised it from him when he came to me and said, ‘I don’t think I want to act’,” said Shah Rukh.
The Dilwale star revealed the primary reason behind Aryan’s decision and it is completely understandable. He did not want to be compared to his father every time he did something – an aspect that would of course be inevitable considering Shah Rukh’s star status in Indian cinema and around the world. “His issue was something I think is practical and honest. He said, ‘Every time, I’ll be compared to you, and I don’t want to be in that position,” revealed Shah Rukh. Saying that it was the love of the people rather than his acting skills that had made him such a big star, he said, “I have been working 27 years in the business and halfway through that I realised I am not half as talented as I think I am, so if I cannot do it with skill and talent then I better get into the hearts of people and if they're loving me, let me just be nice and good about it."
