Not many people know that Shah Rukh Khan runs an organization that helps underprivileged women find economic and social acceptance. Meer Foundation is an organization that helps such women and specifically aims to help women who have become victims of acid attacks. Shah Rukh Khan’s Meer Foundation says that it powers “on-field projects, knowledge sharing initiatives, awareness models, research and advocacy” for women who have been victims of violence.

Meer Foundation’s manifesto also reads that it establishes “key partnerships with NGOs, research institutions, humanitarian organizations, Hospitals and Governments”. This, it says, helps “create a network of like-minded organizations to achieve the desired long-lasting impact”.

Shah Rukh Khan posted on his twitter saying, "All of u please put ur hands in prayer...and say Bhagwan inki zindagi ki nayi shuruaat mein...inpar karam karna...May God have mercy on them...Insha Allah. These r my sisters & need ur prayers for recovery, without distinguishing between the mode of prayer."

Shah Rukh Khan had shared the tweet of Meer Foundation which shared his meeting with the women at Meer Foundation who were undergoing corrective surgeries.

“Acid attack survivors undergoing corrective surgeries, supported by #MeerFoundation through the #ToGETherTransformed initiative,” tweeted Meer Foundation, “to rehabilitate acid attack survivors, spent a beautiful afternoon with @iamsrk, sharing their dreams and drawing courage, together”.

“Let’s come forward and change this!” said Shah Rukh Khan.

“The question of employment of acid attack survivors that no one seems to know the answers to. The survivors are ready to seize the day but employers are hesitant to give them the opportunity,” says Meer Foundation’s manifesto.

Shah Rukh Khan had gotten a special award from UNESCO in 2017 for his work in helping causes such as these.

He was even awarded the Crystal Award by the World Economic Forum for his work to protect women and children’s rights.
