Shah Rukh Khan worked with Ashutosh Gowariker in Swades which was widely appreciated by the audiences. Ashutosh Gowariker was also the man behind one of the biggest biopics in India Jodha Akbar. Shah Rukh Khan took Instagram to wish Ashutosh Gowariker and the team of Swades all the best for their upcoming film Panipat’. He took Twitter to express his views saying, ‘My friend @AshGowariker who made one of the best films of my career Swades is out with another offering. #Panipat - a grand & big cinematic experience. Here’s wishing him & his team and the effort put into this my love. Really good my man!!! Show me fast!!’

Panipat stars Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Kriti Sanon who are coming together for the first time. While one expects much from the cinematic brilliance of Ashutosh Gowariker for bringing  larger than life film to the cinema viewers, the trailer has been criticized for being highly inspired by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.

Arjun Kapoor is playing the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau who seems to have spent time watching Bajirao Mastani for picking some tips from Ranveer Singh playing the role of Peshwa Bajirao. Kriti Sanon, who has recently worked in Akshay Kumar starrer successful film Housefull 4, is playing the role of Parvati Bai who has instantly reminded the viewers of Priyanka Chopra’s character Kashi Bai in Bajirao Mastani. Sanjay Dutt is playing the role of Ahmad Shah Abdali, the Afghan invader, and one cannot trace many differences between his and Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat.

Panipat the film is based on the real-life historical battle of Panipat. Based in the 18th century, the film dates back to the days when Marathas were the most powerful empire in India. When the Afghan invader Ahmad Shah Abdali decided to invade India, the Maratha King ordered Sadashiv Rao Bhau to resist the invader army’s advancements. Panipat is releasing on December 6th, 2019 worldwide.
