It was thought that Shah Rukh Khan is lying low and missing in action after announcing that he was not signing any new movies. After the failure of Zero, it was reported that King Khan had decided to take a step back and focus on his family. Well, wrong! Shah Rukh Khan has a pivotal part in this week’s film India’s Most Wanted. Though he doesn’t make an appearance in person Shah Rukh is a constant presence in the film starring Arjun Kapoor. The terrorist-antagonist (whose character is based on the real-life militant Yasin Bhatkal) is shown as a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan. In the film he talks about the superstar.
Apparently director Rajkumar Gupta had the grace to seek Shah Rukh Khan’s consent before using his name in the film. Says Rajkumar, “It seemed the proper thing to do to ask Mr Khan if we could use his name in our film. He had no objection to being part of our film, through one of the character’s love for the superstar.” One doesn’t know if Shah Rukh Khan’s picture will be actually shown in the movie of if his presence will be indicated merely through dialogues.
Curiously Yasin Bhatkal was not the only internationally-wanted terrorist to be a fan of a Bollywood star. Apparently Osama bin Laden was a big Sunny Leone fan!
India’s Most Wanted has got good buzz in its early reviews. The film, based on a counter-terrorist operation led by the security forces features Arjun in a gritty role and according to sources who have caught the screenings, the tale, about the unsung heroes in the forces, has been told in a gripping and intriguing manner.
