What is the inspiration for your latest collection?
My recent collection is inspired by Rajasthan. I have made extensive use of bandhani, traditional hand block prints embellished with intricate gold hand embroidery and gota-patti work from Jaipur. It's a craft-based collection, rich and Indian in feel but is light and feminine at the same time.
Can you tell us if there is a certain type of person, or even specific people, that you had in mind when designing the collection?
I design for women who know their mind and who love to dress in a feminine and elegant style.
How does the market in Dubai compare to the market in India?
I think there is a large section of women who love Indian fashion. Anywhere in the world a traditional craft is always cherished and admired. So I believe, be it India or Dubai, any woman who loves elegant styles would enjoy wearing my designs. Therefore, platforms like Dubai Fair are extremely important to reach new territories
and capture new markets.
When coming up with a design or a concept for a collection, what do you keep in mind?
Apart from trends, I strongly believe in listening to my inner voice. It's always a combination of both wherein I try to improve the styles I offer and strive to offer something new every time to my clients.
What do you consider your most important achievement?
Launching my organic eco-friendly label, Grassroot, is my greatest achievement. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had an opportunity to promote the organic textiles and traditional craftsmanship of India.
How would you describe your signature style?
