Bollywood’s ace filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has a vast number of hits under his belt. He made his directorial debut with 1996’s Khamoshi: The Musical and later, made some of the most memorable films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Bajirao Mastani and his last one being Padmaavat. Ever since the 2018 film, fans of Bhansali have been eagerly waiting for his next project. It was earlier announced that he would be coming out with his next venture, titled Inshaallah – which would star Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan as the leads, however, the latter pulled out of the film. Now, Bhansali is often known to make love stories, but this time around, he will be working on a biopic.
In a recent interview, Bhansali revealed that he will be working as a producer for a biopic on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Mann Bairagi. Speaking of his next project, Bhansali stated, “The story was very well-researched and the turning point of our PM’s life as a young man, really intrigued me. I felt that it’s an unheard story which needs to be told.” The hour-long film will also be co-produced by Mahaveer Jain, who added, “Mann Bairagi brings out that defining moment in the journey of our PM which has not been in public knowledge so far. I am sure it will connect and inspire today’s youth and that’s what excited us to work on it.”
It has also been disclosed that the first look of Mann Bairagi will be unveiled later today as an ode to the Indian Prime Minister, as he celebrates his 69th birthday. While many are looking forward to see what Bhansali will be bringing forth to the table, this is not the first time a film has been made on Modi. Earlier this year, another biopic – called PM Narendra Modi - on the Indian Prime Minister was released in which Vivek Oberio played essayed him. Despite not having a lot of promotional activities for the film, it fared to do well at the box office, but did land itself in some trouble ahead of the Indian elections.
