When one thinks about the ‘Munna Bhai’ famed franchise, only one name comes to the mind: Superstar Sanjay Dutt. Recently interacting with the media at the trailer launch of ‘Baba’ in Mumbai, Dutt revealed he cannot wait to start shooting for the third installment of the film series. Accompanied by his wife Maanayata, the Bollywood star said, “I pray to God it happens soon but this should be asked from Mr Raju Hirani (Raj Kumar Hirani), the director of the ‘Munna Bhai’ series. I think he would be in a better position to answer this question. I am eagerly waiting to start shooting.”
Amid reports of sexual harassment against the ‘Sanju’ director, the gossip mill suggests that ‘Munna Bhai 3’ cannot hit floors until Hirani is issued a clean chit. The actor made his Indian cinema debut with Rocky in 1981. Since then he has been part of some memorable films like ‘Naam’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Vaastav: The Reality’, ‘Mission Kashmir’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ and many more.
Dutt was also inquired as to what kind of films he wants to star in from now on. Speaking about it, he quipped, “Now, I can’t dance around trees and do romance with girls but I will do some great characters like Mel Gibson and Denzel Washington do in Hollywood films. I have had a very long and beautiful journey since my first film Rocky. I learnt a lot in that process because I worked with some of the great actors from the industry.” However, unlike other stars who have expressed disappointment over the recreation of his hit song ‘O Saki Saki’ from ‘Musafir’, Dutt remained unfettered. Viewing it in a positive light, he said, “It’s great that these songs are being recreated and it means that they are still popular. So, it’s a good thing.” He will next be seen in ‘Shamshera’ with Ranbir Kapoor, whom he shares a great camaraderie with.
