Bollywood veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt will be wielding the megaphone after decades. He will be seen directing the film Sadak 2 starring Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. The original film Sadak starred Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt. Sadak, was a romantic story based on Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt played lovers, who run away from the evil Maharani played by the late Sadashiv Amrapurkar. Sadashiv Amrapurkar won a Filmfare award for best performance in a negative role, for his role of Maharani, an evil and conniving transgender who trafficks innocent women and turns them into prostitutes.

Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt will reprise their roles of Ravi and Pooja, but not much is known about the storyline. Sources suggest that the film will deal with depression as a backdrop and also how Alia Bhatt is on an assignment to expose a fraud Godman and his ashram. Theater actor, Makarand Deshpande will be playing the corrupt and fraudulent Godman in Sadak 2. Alia Bhatt has been paired with Aditya Roy Kapur. While, the film has already gone on floors, we hear that Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt got emotional on the sets of the film reminiscing their ‘Sadak’ original days. A report in DNA states that the two were teary-eyed and inconsolable on the sets of ‘ Sadak 2’.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who along with an award also won a lot of praises for his role of Maharani, will be missed dearly in the second outing of Sadak. The veteran actor passed away in 2014. The film is aiming for a release on July 10, 2020. Alia, who has a choc-a-bloc schedule is currently juggling – Inshallah, Brahmastra, Takht, Sadak 2 and RRR.
