Actor Amit Purohit, who appeared in Telugu and Hindi films, passed away on Wednesday evening, 10th July. His last role was in the hit Telugu film Sammohanam, released in 2018. In this romance-drama film -- about a cartoonist who detests film actors but ends up falling in love with an actress -- Amit played Aditi Rao Hydari's ex-boyfriend and was highly appreciated for his performance. The cause of his death is still unknown and the news has sent shockwaves through the industry. Confirming the news of his death, Sammohanam costar, Sudheer Babu (@isudheerbabu) posted the following message on Twitter: 

“Saddened by the death news of Amit Purohit. He played Amit Malhotra (Sameera's Ex Boyfriend) in Sammohanam. Very friendly guy & always gave 100 % for every shot. Another young and good actor left us too early. May his soul find peace.”

As soon as the news of Amit’s death was announced, condolences started pouring in from his Sammohanam team. Aditi Rao Hyderi shared a condolence message on Twitter (@aditiraohydari), which read: Rest in peace Amit Purohit, Prayers and healing to the family... a kind gentle hardworking person gone to soon. thank you for your invaluable presence in #sammohanam #GoneTooSoon

Amit died in Mumbai. During his film career, he worked with some big names in Bollywood and South Indian cinema, such as Raveena Tandon, Anumpam Kher, Suniel Shetty and Rohit Roy. Apart from Sammohanam, he appeared in the following movies: Shobhna's Seven Nights (2012), Aalaap (2012), Bijuka (2012) and Pankh (2010). Sammohanam director, Mohan Krishna Indraganti (@mokris_1772) wrote: “I am unable to believe it. Amit Purohith, one of the gentlest, well- behaved and hugely talented actors I have worked with. And such a generous man!!! Amith, I will miss you, man. I was thinking of casting you again soon May you Rest In Peace, Brother.”
