Salman Khan Speaks On Losing Stardom, And The Effort To Keep it Going for Some More Years

Salman Khan recently opened up about the fear of losing his stardom and mentioned how Bollywood has only 5 big stars. Learn more.

Salman Khan recently spoke about the fear of losing stardom; the three Khans — Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir — have been enjoying fame and stardom since the 1990s. If their films fail at the box office, their fans seem to feel more disappointed than the actors themselves. In the past few years, the three Bollywood stars have experienced a few big failures at the box office, such as Race 3 with Salman Khan, Zero with SRK and Thugs of Hindostan with Aamir Khan. These movies did not only fail at the box office but also did not receive any praise from the critics. In a recent interview with a film magazine, Salman Khan spoke about how the three stars would try their best to keep their stardom going for the next few years at least.

Mentioning that there were only five stars in Bollywood (adding Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan to the list), Salman Khan said, “Stardom will fade eventually. It’s a huge task to keep it going for such a long time. I guess Shah Rukh, Aamir, Akki, Ajay…we’re the only ones who have been able to pull it off for such a long time. We’ll try our best to keep it going for another few years. Just like in the case of all superstars, the box-office collection will come down to eight to ten percent. But it hasn’t started yet.”

Salman’s last appeared in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat, which became the third highest grossing Bollywood film of 2019 in the opening week. The actor is currently shooting for his next film, Dabangg 3, where he plays the iconic character, Chulbul Panday, from the highly popular Dabangg franchise. Salman is trying to lose 8-10 kilos for this role and has been quite active on social media recently, sharing his fitness videos and some glimpses of his personal life. The actor is also producing Nach Baliye season 9, a dance reality show, and will be returning as a host on popular reality show, Bigg Boss season 13.
