Music plays a pivotal role in everyone’s lives. In no matter what form it may be – ranging from qawaali and ghazal to pop and rock – the genre has taken over the world by storm. In light of this, it comes as no surprise that there is a day dedicated solely to the art. With World Music Day today, here is a list of B-town actors who tried their hand at singing on different occasions and made us tear up right away! No, it wasn’t because they don’t have good voices but because their songs tug at our heart strings each time we give them a listen.
1. Ayushmann Khurrana
Not many know that the star who is now more popularly known for acting stints initially began his showbiz career with singing. He crooned a number for his 2003 Bollywood debut Vicky Donor and left his fans mesmerised. Paani Da Raag was both written and composed by Khurrana for the Shoojit Sircar directorial. A longer version was released with female vocals performed by Sukanya Purkayastha which was also played in the film. The Punjabi number hits right at our emotional side even today!
2. Kareena Kapoor Khan
We know you didn’t see this one coming! We can’t argue with music fanatics over her singing skills but she did impress us when she sang Deewana Hai Dekho from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. But the single that really touched our hearts and is played at weddings even today is Papa Ki Pari Hoon Main from Mein Prem Ki Deewani Hoon.
3. Salman Khan
Next up is King Khan of Bollywood. He has a catchy voice and has often expressed his passion for singing.
He has previously sung Chaandi Ki Daal Per from Hello Brother. But the number that made Khan’s fans super sentimental was Main Hoon Hero Tera in Hero which released in 2015 and received over 55 million views. He voiced the lyrics in the most beautiful manner!
The actor was once rejected for his heavy voice but didn’t give up his passion. The first song that comes to everyone’s mind is Rang Barse from Silsila. But the song that really had us balling was Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Me from Kabhi Kabhi. The lyrics were catchy, the rhythm was on point and the voice was calming. We loved every bit of it!
5. Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan tried his hand at singing in Aati Kya Khandala in his boxer flick Ghulaam opposite Rani Mukerji. He also lent his voice to the track Bum Bum Bole in Taare Zameen Par.
6. Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan has tried his hand at singing in the film Josh in the song Apun Bola. Recently Shah Rukh Khan also ‘rapped’ ahead of Elections 2019 in India.
7. Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt has sung songs in his hit films such as Munna Bhai and Haseena Man Jayegi and Ay Shivani in Sanjay Chel’s Khoobsurat
