Salman Khan Fails To Appear At Jodhpur Hearing Amid Security Concerns
Salman Khan was asked to appear before the Jodhpur court earlier today, however, he failed to make an appearance citing security concerns
Bollywood stars have often found themselves in a lot of trouble - sometimes, in legal trouble. The likes of Sanjay Dutt, Sooraj Pancholi, Shah Rukh Khan and many others have found themselves making rounds of the court, much like Salman Khan. The actor was accused in a black buck poaching case back in September 1998 during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain. His co-stars from the film, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Saif Ali Khan were acquitted back in April 2018. Salman was sentenced to 5 years in jail, however, he appealed to the court and was supposed to have its hearing today.
On July 4, the Jodhpur court had directed Salman to appear before the court on September 27 and failing to do so would result in his bail plea being cancelled. Despite the order, Salman chose to not go to the hearing today, reported NDTV. According to sources, the actor cited security concerns after he received a death threat issued by a gangster just last week. The gangster belonging to the Bishnoi community, threatened to kill Salman in a Facebook post on September 16.
On the other hand, his lawyer added that he was busy with film shoots. He also submitted two applications in the court and the next hearing has been fixed for December 19. This is not the only legal case Salman has found himself involved in. Back in 2002, the actor was accused of running his car over some people who were sleeping on a footpath in Mumbai's Bandra district. One of the persons had died after the incident. Initially, Salman was sentenced to 5 years in jail, but a hearing in 2015, 7 months later stated that the actor was free of all criminal charges. The Bombay High Court revealed that there was lack of substantial evidence to hold him accountable for the death.
