Ace director Kabir Khan seems to have his hands full at the moment, with exciting films in his kitty. With Tubelight up for release this Eid, he is all set to embark on a new project.
Kabir Khan’s love for documentary filmmaking is known to all, along with his fascination for subjects such as war and espionage! Remember Kabul Express, New York, Phantom and Ek Tha Tiger?
Khan may have made some of the biggest commercial hits, but at heart he enjoys making films with deep meanings, addressing important world issues! The director is now all set to direct a web series for Amazon Prime Video. The web series, called the The Forgotten Army, will be based on Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army. A source close to Kabir Khan revealed to DNA newspaper, “He has been wanting to make this subject for a long time. He has lived with this project for years as he discovered it during his days as documentary maker.”
To take the excitement a notch higher, the director is said to have approached Saif Ali Khan to be part of his dream project. The source further revealed, “Saif and Kabir share an excellent rapport, and have been wanting to work together. The series is about the soldiers who worked for the INA more than about Bose. Kabir has discussed the idea with Saif and while he has shown interest, he is yet to sign on the dotted line for the project. But if he does, he will play a soldier from Bose’s troupe.” Now that’s a breath of fresh air! An interesting subject with some very good talent at play!
Saif is currently tied up with the release of his new film Chef, directed by Raja Krishna Menon, which is a remake of an American film sharing the same title, set to release at the end of this year.
On a side note, it looks like the freedom fighter subject has really caught on to the industry. Along with Kabir Khan’s project, director Hansal Mehta and Ekta Kapoor have also conceptualised a web series that will star Rajkummar Rao in the role of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
